Job Description

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for Leading Hands, to join our Structures team based in Perth but working across our entire network. The role is responsible for the leadership and supervision of Arc contractors, with works involving replacement, repair and maintenance of existing bridges and culverts across the Arc network; this will involve regular travel across our network and staying away from home. The Leading Hand, Structures will report to the Project Lead - Structures. 

 

The Role

Some of the key responsibilities include: 

  • Manage and supervise contractors on site
  • Assist Supervisors and Engineers with planning of construction works
  • Monitor quality of work to ensure it is carried out safely, in line with procedures, codes of practice and standards
  • Provide on the job instruction, technical direction and support
  • Complete and verify routine maintenance works
  • Conduct worksite inspections, incident investigations and actively promote a positive safety culture within the team
  • Appropriate coordination of resources, materials and sub-contractors
  • Issuing of permits for high risk activities, implementation of traffic management plans and liaising with members of the community

 

About You

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Current valid Drivers Licence
  • Trade certificate (CERT III) or equivalent in an appropriate construction trade
  • CERT III in Rail Structures (TLI32115) desirable
  • Experience with infrastructure projects, rail or road construction (bridges/culverts) and bulk earthworks
  • Leadership skills and an ability to adapt to a dynamic environment
  • Previous supervisory experience desirable

The role will entail working at various locations across our network frequently staying away from home in regional and metro areas. Candidates must have no issue with regularly working away from home. We are looking for candidates that are either Perth based or live regional in the southern half of Western Australia.
