The Opportunity
We are currently looking for an Instructional Designer to join our team based in Kewdale on a permanent Full-time or Part-time arrangement
The Role
Join a passionate, motivated team shaping the future of rail training at Arc! We are seeking an Instructional Designer to develop engaging, competency-based learning solutions that support our diverse and skilled workforce. You’ll bring a flair for designing effective, learner-focused content, along with the ability to collaborate with busy subject matter experts to translate their technical knowledge into practical training tools. Many of our courses are aligned with Nationally Recognised Training and play a vital role in supporting safety-critical roles across the Arc network.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop engaging learning materials and assessment tools using Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint) and eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, and Adobe Suite).
- Develop assessments, practical simulations, portfolio and marking guides - blended learning experiences aligned to operational requirements and safety-critical competencies.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex technical rail procedures and standards into accessible, learner-focused content.
- Conduct pre-validation sessions to ensure the tools assessment tools align with training package requirements and internal quality standards.
- Support compliance and audit readiness by maintaining accurate documentation and version control of training materials.
- Proofread and continuously improve a wide range of existing resources.
- Follow internal processes to ensure consistency, version control and regulatory compliance.
About You
To be successful in this role we need you to have
- Strong writing skills combined with strong attention to detail
- Experience in building impactful learning and assessment tools (we would love to see a sample with your application if possible) using Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- A good eye for design, sensible layouts, and an appreciation for consistency
- Experience solving problems creatively.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and compliance
- Strong grasp of adult learning principles and digital learning technologies
- Have an understanding of validation/moderation activities, mapping, training packages, etc.
Qualifications/Experience
- 2-3 years in instructional design or a similar role (preferably in rail, transport, or other technical industries)
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.
