If this sounds like you, our Environment and Heritage Team are seeking an Environmental Programs Officer on a 2 year Fixed-Term Contract.
In this role, you will support the completion of desktop assessments to identify environmental and heritage values, support field-based ecological surveys by performing field technician duties, assist in the preparation of survey reports and support the continual improvement of Arc’s Environment and Heritage Programs through process, system and documentation updates.
The Role
As the Environmental Programs Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting desktop assessments to identify environmental and heritage considerations utilising GIS, documenting findings accordingly
- Performing field technician duties during environmental surveys, recording geospatial data and flora/fauna information within Arc’s GIS system in consultation with technical SMEs
- Support in the preparation of ecological survey reports
- Provision of environmental and heritage permit documentation
- Support the development and continual improvement of program and management system documentation for environmental initiatives
- Perform quality assurance checks on data provided by consultants to verify it meets Arc’s Environmental Data Standard
- Coordinate the configuration and rollout of improvements to Arc’s GIS system to support Environmental and Heritage Programs
About You
Our ideal candidate would possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience utilising a GIS program e.g. ArcGIS or QGIS
- Previous experience on utilising desktop information to provide insights on environmental considerations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills allowing determination of trends/insights in data
- Skilled in report and document writing, preparing technical documentation that can be used by individuals without an environment/heritage background
- Strong organisational and attention to detail skills
- Strong business improvement focus
