The Role
This role acts as the technical point of contact between Arc Infrastructure (Rail Infrastructure Manager) and rolling stock operators authorised to operate on the regional freight rail network. It bridges the technical requirements of rail infrastructure with the operational and mechanical requirements of rolling stock, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient railway operations across the network. • Recommend restrictions or waivers where needed and drive improvements to registration processes.

Technical Liaison & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the main technical contact for operators and internal teams, providing guidance on standards, infrastructure limits, and compliance.
  • Support assessments of track capability and represent Arc Infrastructure in industry forums and technical meetings.

Technical Documentation & Standards Interpretation

  • Produce clear technical correspondence, assessments, and procedure updates.
  • Interpret rolling stock and infrastructure standards, identify non‑conformances, and determine appropriate controls or modifications.

Plant & Equipment Registration

  • Oversee compliance and registration of maintenance vehicles and specialised rail plant.

Risk Analysis & Incident Investigation

  • Lead or support risk assessments and technical investigations into derailments or interface issues.
  • Prepare reports, identify root causes, and present findings to internal teams and regulators.

Continuous Improvement & Safety Culture

  • Identify process improvements, update standards, analyse compliance trends, and support wayside monitoring systems.
  • Contribute to organisational learning and safety culture development.
